"He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city”.
Proverbs 16:32
It is unavoidable that the irritations of life can rub us the wrong way. But when does it get to a point where our frequent outbursts of anger or character flaws could affect our eternal standing with God?
Returning home from a holiday and sleeping on the plane, I had a dream where I was climbing up a mountain. There were battles to fight but I was victorious, and I continued ascending the mountain, assuming more responsibilities and authority. There was a small demonic figure that kept annoying me as I climbed up the mountain and no matter the number of battles I won, this small figure kept taunting and belittling me.
I had finally reached a high point on the mountain and the small figure was still there. In an outburst of anger, I sought to dislodge this figure in my life. But as we were struggling, we stumbled and we both fell off the mountain. I landed on a lower part of the mountain and lost much of my authority. The dream ended with me realising that I could never reach the same height as I once did unless I learnt to surrender my emotions and frustrations to Him. It was God’s solemn warning to me. - By JC
